Samantha Brown finally got her moment in the Women’s Western Junior. The 18-year-old from Westfield, Indiana, walked away from Hinsdale Golf Club on Friday evening with the Icely Cup in her arms after clinching the 97th Women’s Western Junior with a 4 and 3 victory over Isabel Emanuels, of Austin, Texas.

Inclement weather forced delays throughout the Sweet 16 and quarterfinal matches, testing Harper Anne Hinckley, of McComb, Mississippi; Samantha Brown, of Westfield, Indiana; Angel Yin, of Hong Kong; and Isabel Emanuels, of Austin, Texas, as they advanced to Friday’s semifinal round.

Hsin Tai Lin the 18-year-old from Taiwan birdied the last two holes at Hinsdale Golf Club on Wednesday to shoot a 3-under 69 and earn medalist honors at the 97th Women’s Western Junior.

Martha Kuwahara, the first-round leader of the 97th Women’s Western Junior, already holds a place in golf history as a champion at Augusta National. Now, she holds a one-stroke lead after posting a 1-under 71 in the first round of stroke-play qualifying at Hinsdale Golf Club on Tuesday.
