WWGA Announces
2010 Women Of Distinction Honoree

Kathy Whitworth

Kathy Whitworth is a legend like no others … some 50 years after joining the LPGA, she remains the tour standard for victories.  88 LPGA victories are the most on a professional Tour – surpassing the PGA Tour record of 82.   Kathy won the 1967 Women’s Western Open; she was also the Runner-up of the WWGA’s Open in 1963.  She is one of golf’s greatest!

“Kathy is not only one of the finest players in the history of the game, but one of its greatest shot-makers. Over a 30-year period she won tournaments that included great champions from Patty Berg and Louise Suggs, to Mickey Wright and Betsy Rawls, to Nancy Lopez, Patty Sheehan and Betsy King. Her longevity is a part of her great legacy but it is Kathy’s respect for her fellow players and for the traditions of this great game that make her worthy of every honor that comes her way.”
Rhonda Glenn, USGA Manager of Communications

The WWGA congratulates Kathy on an outstanding career and is proud to award her with the
WWGA’s 2010 Woman of Distinction Award.

A quote from one of our Past Champions
A champion must have the will to win not just the wish to win....
You have to have an attitude that says,
"I know I can do it! And I'm GOING to do it"
